Understanding the EPBD and what it means for you

Buildings play an important role in combating climate change.

Buildings in the EU are responsible for about 36% of the European Union’s CO2 emissions. The EU aims to become climate-neutral by 2050.

An important driver for change is the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, or EPBD. This directive is the EU’s main legislative instrument designed to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and to increase their level of intelligence through automation; for example, the EPBD sets new requirements on the installation of building automation and control systems in all non-residential buildings with heating or combined heating and ventilation systems with an effective rated output of over 290 kW.

This guide provides comprehensive information about the main points behind the EPBD (and its amendments) and gives practical guidelines on how to implement the necessary property changes. Please note, this eBook doesn't yet include content from the revised directive.
